Each and all are now aware of the impact of individuals and organizations on their environment be it natural, social or cultural.
And when sustainable development policies were drawn up, this cultural issue was largely under-estimated, probably because of the difficulty of coming to grips with it.
Globalisation brings with it unprecedented opportunities for cultural cross-fertilization. However, care must be given not to err on the side of a standardization which would threaten both the bedrock and the creative diversity of cultures.
It is therefore urgent to advocate the promotion and stewardship of a rich and diverse cultural environment at the very heart of our responsibilities.
